SPANISH GOLD

SEE EVENT DETAILS
SPANISH GOLD

The debut album from Spanish Gold—a newly formed band featuring former Hacienda guitarist/vocalist Dante Schwebel, Brownout guitarist Adrian Quesada, and My Morning Jacket drummer Patrick Hallahan—South of Nowhere is a densely layered love letter to Laredo, the spirited but often troubled Texas border town where Schwebel and Quesada grew up.

In their seamless swirling-together of rock & roll, soul, psychedelia, and pop—a summery, groove-heavy sound at turns inspired by Donny Hathaway, ‘70s rock, and early-‘90s hip-hop—Spanish Gold reveal the supreme musicianship and easy chemistry at the heart of their collaboration.

Clear Plastic Masks

“Scorching garage rock with nothing to hide: just pummeling percussion, desperate yowls that recall Jack White before he became Jack White, and a whole lot of scrappy guitar fuzz that should please Black Lips worshipers.” —SPIN

“Ramshackle rock with a retro flair is the best way I can describe it. Yet even with its looseness, it makes quite an impact.” —KCRW

Being There, the full-length debut album from emerging Nashville band Clear Plastic Masks (CPM), will be released May 27 on Serpents & Snakes Records. Already receiving critical acclaim, KCRW premiered the first single, “Outcast,” praising, “incredible…raucous rock, played loose and scrappy the way only a very talented group of musicians can.”

The new album features material from last year’s debut EP including the tracks “Baby, Come On” and “So Real.” Of the EP, The New York Times’ Jon Pareles praises, “The churning, galvanic, righteously messy surge and crash of 1960s rock is their heritage, full of loose ends and live wires; they’ve got firm roots without settling down in the slightest.”

Formed in 2011 in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn, CPM relocated to Nashville in 2012 where they recorded their debut album at The Bomb Shelter with Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Hurray for The Riff Raff). The 4-piece band is made up of Eddy DuQuesne (bass/keys), Charlie Garmendia (drums), Andrew Katz (guitar/keys/vocal) and Matt Menold (guitar/keys). In addition to CPM, the band-members recently launched a side-project with Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard, entitled Thunderbitch.

Yesway

Emily Ritz (DRMS and Honeycomb) and Kacey Johansing (Honeycomb) form this foxy experimental-folk duo from Oakland.
