What lessons do we carry from those who came before us? How does the bond between parent and child shape the art we create and the lives we lead?
On National Sons & Daughters Day, join The Living Room at Fireside Books & More for an intimate and interactive salon that moves beyond a traditional reading to foster a space of shared reflection. This is not a performance, but a conversation. Guided by a circle of celebrated Bay Area poets, we will explore the intricate, beautiful, and complex relationships of lineage through dialogue, discussion, and the poems that give them voice.
Throughout the evening, our featured poets will weave readings of their work into a flowing conversation, responding to questions about parenthood, memory, and the art that has shaped their understanding of family.
This is a participatory experience. We invite you not only to listen but to connect. You will have a chance to engage in the dialogue and participate in a brief, guided writing exercise on a postcard--a small token of reflection to keep, to share, or to mail to someone you hold dear.
We will close our time together with a call to honor our connections, whether celebrating those with us, remembering those who are with the ancestors, or holding space for those who are far away. Come be in community with us.
Guiding the conversation will be:
Paolo Bicchieri
MK Chavez
Robin Michel
Audrey T. Williams
(Hosted by Kevin Dublin)
