Sonja Navin "The Insistence Of Color"

ArtZone 461 Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of a new solo show for San Francisco based artist Sonja Navin. The exhibitions begin November 23 2013 and are on view through January 5, 2014.

Sonja Navin was included in ArtZone 461’s 2012’s first statewide, juried competition as a Group-Show winning artist. “The Insistence of Color” marks her second solo show in the Gallery’s more intimate ‘side space’ and lays the foundation for a solo show in the main space in 2014 or 2015. With this show Navin also transitions from “guest” to Gallery Artist.

Navins’ current show features landscapes and street views that reflect as the title suggests, colorful vistas full of light and brilliant colors and dark shadows too. Navin has been painting and drawing since earning her Master of Architecture degree in 1995. With ten years experience, the work has matured and grown to contain an individual stylistic approach. She now includes figures in her work and some are included. Her artists’ Statement reveals, “My paintings are personal narratives or visual diaries.”

As always, the ‘open’ “Back Room” space features the Gallery Library, available for in-house use and examples of Gallery artists works, demonstrating the variety and talent all produced by local, San Francisco and Bay Area artists.

Opening Reception Saturday November 23, 5:00 – 8:00 pm

Gallery Hours: 12-6 pm Wednesday-Sunday, occasional evenings and anytime by appointment
