**We ask that you bring a mat to lie on.
****Space is limited. Please reserve your tickets early.

LORIEL STARR has worked with sound as a method of healing and meditation for over 15 years. She is a Certified Sound Healing Practitioner and a graduate of The California Institute of Integral Studies' "Sound, Voice and Music in the Healing Arts" program. Loriel has studied with numerous luminaries in the field of sound healing and sound meditation; Sylvia Nakkach, Pauline Oliveros, Tito La Rosa, Mehtab Benton, John Beaulieu and Don Conreaux are some of her teachers. Her ultimate teacher in the realm of sound healing and Nada Yoga (sound meditation) is "the silent presence" that is the source of all sound and is the spiritual essence within each human heart.
Loriel's sound bath events, her workshops and her private practice are inspired by a passionate desire to share the power of sound as a means to greater harmony of body, mind and spirit.
She has produced a variety of sound meditation and sound bath events in the greater SF Bay Area; including "The Sound Mandala Experience", which featured an extraordinary ensemble of 8 gongs, over 40 singing bowls and collaboration with many of the Bay Area's premier sound healing musicians. She was featured in a monthly sound bath event called "Sound Oasis" in San Francisco in SF's Mission District and was a member of San Francisco's, "Sound Healing Symphony" at Grace Cathedral.
In addition, Loriel is a teacher and facilitator of several different modalities of meditation, somatic healing and psycho-spiritual practices for promoting well-being, increasing resilience and supporting self-transformation. She is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, a Level III Certified iRest Yoga Nidra Teacher and a Certified Holotropic Breathwork facilitator.

Karen Stackpole is an audio engineer, educator, writer, and drummer/percussionist who specializes in gongs. Since 1991 she has incorporated gongs in her life and music and has cultivated some distinctive techniques for drawing harmonics out of tam tams with various implements. She specializes in dynamic soundscapes and textures and is active in the experimental music scene, as well as contributes gong sounds to more conventional musical genres and creates source material for film soundtracks.

In addition to solo work, she has performed and recorded with various projects including Sabbaticus Rex, Ghost in the House, Vorticella, the Francis Wong Unit, Malcolm Mooney and The Tenth Planet, and the rock band Steel Hotcakes. Most recently her work has focused on duet performances and recordings with experimental instrument builder Krys Bobrowski (Gliss Glass & Gongs), contrabassist Bill Noertker (Talking Frog), and guitarist extraordinaire, Fred Frith.

Over the years she has delved deeply into the vibrational healing powers of gongs, which are tremendous vehicles of transcendence and alignment. One of her more recent endeavors, Machine Shop: Live Amplified Gong Experience, a duo with audio engineer Drew Webster, brings the intensity of gongs to a new level through amplification and subtle processing to enhance the natural and complex harmonics of these amazing instruments while effectively translating the full vibrations into larger spaces.
