Songwriters in the Round w/ Alex Jimenez, Lindy LaFontaine, and G-Rad

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at Bazaar Cafe (see times)
The 2016 season of Songwriters in the Round continues, returning to Bazaar Cafe Saturday, Jan 30, with v.15.0, featuring Lindy LaFontaine and G-Rad.

This is a traditional in-the-round performance, no sets, just us, the artists and our instruments, taking turns playing our songs. So you'll get us together. A Lindy LaFontaine, G-Rad, Alex Jimenez playlist. Songwriting stories will probably ensue.

Songwriters in the round. Food and drink. Good company. In a fantastic listening space.

Lindy LaFontaine http://www.lindylafontaine.com/

A lustrous sheen of shimmering electronic orchestration frames the evocative voice of singer/songwriter Lindy LaFontaine. Segueing effortlessly from an intimate lower timbre into a soaring arc, it is a voice of rare power. It is the sound of her soul. Lindy brings a world view to her music. Growing up in extraordinary locales from Bangladesh to Washington D.C.; Cairo, Egypt to California, she graduated from Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), the college founded by Sir Paul McCartney, with honors. She returned to the U.S. and a quick succession of cities: New York City, Washington, D.C., and Las Vegas, before landing in Berkeley, CA. In D.C., the band she fronted, Kyro, made impressive industry inroads. As a solo artist, she completes that promise. In March, 2011, Lindy’s cover of ‘Low’ by Cracker, won Best Cover Song at The 10th Independent Music Awards. She’s currently creating an album of finely crafted trip hop songs.

G-Rad http://g-rad.net/

G-Rad is Gerad Stemke, a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist performer who has been actively releasing original music and entertaining crowds since 1997. Primarily releasing work as a singer/songwriter/acoustic guitar player, G-Rad currently has 3 albums and 2 EPs available for consumption. In 2002, he studied Computer Music Composition in Paris, France at the Centre for Composition of Music, Iannis Xenakis (CCMIX). There he began honing his production skills with a focus on orchestrating pop style songwriting with ethereal effects. In 2008, he and co-founder Fabian Oregon launched the record label One Sided, LLC. The label serves as a vehicle for releasing the voluminous G-Rad back catalog as well as forthcoming solo projects and collaborations. Having written well over 1,000 songs and performed for thousands of people, G-Rad’s music has touched many hearts and spread a lot of love.

Alex Jimenez http://alexjimenezmusic.com/

A product of the early San Francisco indie music scene, host Alex Jimenez has spent the majority of his life creating music to share with his fellow musicians and community. An avid guitar player and singer, Alex is currently focusing on his solo work, a blend of acoustic pop meets gritty blues. In 2001, he wrote his first 5 songs back to back, and subsequently formed the acoustic duo Ms.Quito with artist/performer Allison Hennessey. Shortly after, he independently released his first EP ‘Mosquito Tracks... songs about Love, Loss, and Money’. In 2012, he released his first album ‘The Acoustik Projekt’, with songwriter/conga player Mark Edgar. That same year, his 2 year, fifteen show odyssey, 'The Usual Suspects Songwriter Showcase', became a critical favorite, showcasing some of the Bay Area’s finest talent. Currently, his new EP, ‘Inside’, is being mixed by Ryan Clark, and he is writing songs for his next full length album. Alex can also be seen moonlighting as Thunderegg's full time rocking bass player.
