at Bazaar Cafe (see times)
It's 2016, and with a brand new year comes a brand new series of shows!

Songwriters in the Round returns to Bazaar Cafe Saturday, Jan 30, with v.14.0, featuring Francesca Lee and Johnny Nash.

We'll be playing this show in the round, no sets, just us, the artists and our instruments, taking turns playing our songs. So you'll get us together. A Francesca Lee, Johnny Nash, Alex Jimenez playlist. Songwriting stories will probably ensue.

Songwriters in the round. Food and drink. Good company. In a fantastic listening space.

Francesca Lee http://francescalee.com/

Francesca Lee is a vocalist, songwriter, recording artist and show producer from San Francisco. Known for her stripped-down soulful folk/pop style with elements of blues and jazz, she is most notably recognized for her earthy/sultry vocal style and personal lyrics. The daughter of a Polish mother and a Japanese-born Korean father, Francesca grew up between the Bay Area and Texas. She graduated from high school in Alameda, CA, and was accepted into the prestigious Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), the college founded by Sir Paul McCartney, Francesca raised tuition money with street performances and personal fundraisers. “Doing that set my foundation for what I do now – organizing and promoting music. I knew I could make it happen if I really wanted it,” she notes. A top ten finalist in Sarah McLachlan’s Lilith Fair Talent Search, Lee’s original music is featured on her CD, ‘The Pieces Left’, along with KFOG’s ‘Local Scene Vol. 6 and Songwriters Unplugged Volume One—Live at Yoshi’s’, and industry and lifestyle magazines like Music Connection and Venuszine. She is a show producer at Bread & Roses, the nonprofit organization devoted to bringing hope and healing through quality live music productions to hospitals, drug rehabilitation centers, homeless shelters, and the incarcerated.

Johnny Nash http://johnnashmusic.com/

John Nash's music explores the relationship between force and flow. Born in New York City, he has lived in Colorado, New Mexico, New England, California and Oregon, as well as a stint studying abroad in Europe. His travels and vagabond childhood contribute to his penchant for observation and compassionate insight. His songwriting is driven by exploring the deep truths bound in paradox and his growing realization of how much he doesn't know about what he doesn't know. 2014 saw the release of his album ‘Heavy Light’. Recorded in songwriter/musician Keith Greeninger’s studio among the redwoods in the Santa Cruz mountains, the album came together very organically, for a very warm and rich production.

Alex Jimenez http://alexjimenezmusic.com/

A product of the early San Francisco indie music scene, host Alex Jimenez has spent the majority of his life creating music to share with his fellow musicians and community. An avid guitar player and singer, Alex is currently focusing on his solo work, a blend of acoustic pop meets gritty blues. He released his first album ‘The Acoustik Projekt’ in 2012, a duet with songwriter/conga player Mark Edgar. In 2012/13 his 2 year, fifteen show odyssey, 'The Usual Suspects Songwriter Showcase', was a critical favorite, showcasing some of the Bay Area’s finest talent. Currently, his new EP, ‘Inside’, is being mixed, and he is writing songs for his next full length album. Alex can also be seen moonlighting as Thunderegg's full time rocking bass player.
