Songbirds Dillbilly and Genesis Fermin

SEE EVENT DETAILS
El Rio is excited to announce a lovely night of original music, which will be the Bay area
debut for two prolific and well-loved folksingers, Dillbilly and Genesis Fermin. The show willbe held at 3158 Mission Street in San Francisco. Doors open at 6:30pm with music starting at 7:00pm and ending by 9:00pm. Admission if free, 21+

Newly migrated to West Oakland, Indiana grown songwriter Dillbilly (aka Denise Dill)
has performed across the U.S. and Canada over the past 15 years releasing 10 full-length albums. Committed to making music with integrity Dill is independent and motivated to create fiery sounds with local ingredients by their own hands. Dill’s most recent full-length solo release, Heavy Joi, is ”a sparkling work of thought and labor. She broaches difficult and complicated emotional issues that adults experience but are rarely able to articulate in such a beautiful way.

“Dillbilly is a songbird with a hypnotizing voice and an apparent knowledge of multiple instruments: guitar, uke, piano, banjo, and sax to name a few. Her songs stream consciousness away from the present to another, peaceful yet contemplative place. With a nearly southern folk feel, Dillbilly’s music makes you want to lay in an open field and ponder life, the good and the bad. Her alto voice and sighing metaphorical lyrics dance above her tracks that scream, “peaceful journey.” Shutter 16 Magazine

Also debuting that night with a style all her own is songwriter Genesis Fermin. Hailing
from the thousand islands of the Philippines and now occupying this northern California landscape, she is unique in that she can hold her homeland taken in solidly in one handand interpret the multiple injustices of this land on the other hand. Her breadth of work is vast but poignant and perceptive at the same time. Like the seashore to the sea, ever changing but always in contact with this world we’re living in. Genesis Fermin is not your chain outlet of musical treats but an unusual and original songwriter and musician.
