The San Jose Youth Symphony’s Philharmonic Orchestra, under the artistic leadership of Music Director and Conductor Yair Samet, presents its 2014 Spring Concert to be held on Saturday, March 22 at 2:30 pm at the California Theatre, 345 S. 1st Street, San Jose, CA 95113.
The program will open with Sibelius’s Finlandia; Grieg’s Norwegian Dances, No. 1; Bernstein’s On The Town, and will conclude with the orchestral showpiece, Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances from Prince Igor. This concert will also showcase winners from the 2013 Young Artists’ Competition, proudly sponsored by the San Jose Symphony Foundation. Two outstanding young soloists will be featured: Daniel Charif, flutist, performing Mozart’s Flute Concerto No. 1 in G Major; and Robert Collar, clarinetist, performing Artie Shaw’s Concerto for Clarinet in B-Flat Major.
