It’s not often that a musical organization can celebrate sixty consecutive years of performing together, but the San Jose Wind Symphony, conducted by Dr Edward C. Harris, is celebrating that achievement in its 60th Diamond Jubilee Concert. The theme of the concert, “From the Northern Lights,” features music by Scandinavian composers.
The special guest artist is world-renowned pianist Jon Nakamatsu, the Gold Medal winner at the Tenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Mr. Nakamatsu will perform Edvard Grieg's popular “Piano Concerto in A minor.”
The San Jose Wind Symphony also welcomes back Maestro Darrell Johnston, who founded the group in 1958 and served as its conductor and musical director for 44 years.
This is a rare chance to see one of the world’s great pianists in McAfee Center for the Performing Arts in Saratoga, an intimate, easy access concert venue.
