SiriusXM's Hip-Hop Nation Presents: Key Glock - Glockoma Tour

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Key Glock hails from South Memphis, Tennessee, a hotbed of hip-hop and the home of Three 6 Mafia, his greatest influence. Born Markeyvius LaShun Cathey in 1997, Glock first got behind the mic in 9th grade, recording the song "Actin'." Borrowing the beat from Gucci Mane's "Don't Deserve It," he called out the "frauds" who rap without an authentic backstory to back up their boasts. Key Glock subsequently joined his cousin Young Dolph on tour and later signed to his label, Paper Route Empire. He dropped his debut mixtape, Glock Season, in 2017, followed by Glockoma and Glock Bond, which featured the freestyle hit "Russian Cream." Streamed over 43 million times on Spotify, "Russian Cream" proved that Key Glock was a force to be reckoned with.

Glock and Dolph joined forces on 2019's Dum and Dummer, which hit No. 10 on the Billboard 200 chart. The following year, in 2020 he released his solo mixtape, Yellow Tape, a real and raw production that connected with audiences and fans everywhere. Several months later, he released his second mixtape of 2020, Son of a Gun, debuting at No. 37 on the Billboard 200. In 2021, Glock and Dolph teamed up again for Dum and Dummer 2 and it debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200. That same year, Glock released Yellow Tape 2 featuring the singles "Da Truth," "Toolie" and "Ambition for Cash."

The COVID-19 pandemic has made it tough for artists worldwide. Glock and Dolph canceled their tour due to COVID-19, but Key Glock was hit harder in November 2021 when Young Dolph tragically lost his life in Memphis. He channeled his grief by returning to the studio in January 2022. The resulting album, Proud, lays bare his feelings about losing his mentor -- "I lost my dog, I lost my mind, no lie, I'm really lost inside." In a 2022 tweet, Glock even hinted at leaving the music game to pursue acting, writing, "Doing music don't hit da same for me anymore." Fortunately for fans, he's committed to The Yellow Tape Tour, which is already underway.
