SEE EVENT DETAILS
Interested in learning more about the music you’ll hear at the San Francisco Symphony? Join Symphonix for our newest event, Sips & Symphonies! San Francisco Symphony musicians David Kim and Daniel Hawkins will help us go inside the music and learn about pieces from upcoming concerts.
This event is free and open to all, so bring that friend you’ve been wanting to take to the Symphony!

David Kim joined the San Francisco Symphony in 2009. He attended the Juilliard School, Eastman School of Music, New England Conservatory, and—as a recipient of the 2007-08 Fulbright/Swiss Government Arts Grant—the Geneva Conservatory. Mr. Kim was a member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and has been a member of the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra and the IRIS Orchestra. His chamber music engagements have included performances at the Musée du Louvre, Ravinia’s Rising Stars Series, Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.

A native of Chandler, TX, Daniel Hawkins joined the San Francisco Symphony horn section in September 2017. He was the national winner of the Music Teacher’s National Association Young Artist Brass solo recital competition in 2014 and won first place in the Mid-South Horn Workshop Concerto Competition in 2010. Mr. Hawkins has performed with ensembles around the country, including the Houston, Dallas, New World, and San Antonio symphonies, and the Louisiana Philharmonic. Mr. Hawkins studied at Stephen F. Austin State University before transferring to Southern Methodist University in Dallas to obtain his bachelor’s degree in horn performance. He earned a master’s degree from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University.
