The closing of the Avalon last year left a hole in the local music scene. It's unclear if the Milano Restaurant will replace the Avalon as a spot for great local and touring rock acts-only time will tell. This Friday marks the venue's first official rock/metal show. The lineup includes all local bands: Potential Threat, Six Weeks Sober, Mukagee, Mudface and Silent Sinner-who will be closing the night with their unique breed of late-'70s-influenced metal. If the show goes well, more will happen, and they might even start booking touring acts. This could be a really good thing for San Jose.
