Shelby, Texas

First things first:
1 – Yes, Shelby, Texas is a real place.
2 – No, the band is not from there (but they are firmly committed to playing there someday).

The Shelby, Texas we're talking about is a Bay Area country/rock band bringing their own west coast country charm wherever they roam. In addtion to their highly acclaimed original music, they also perform a carefully selected set of covers ranging from country to classic & southern rock and more.

Shelby Lanterman, from Napa, CA and Texas McCauley of San Francisco, formed the band in June of 2016. Since then, Shelby, Texas has played over 150 shows in 23 states including headlining performances at San Francisco’s famous Great American Music Hall, Napa's Blue Note, and the 2017 Roswell UFO Festival. They were even invited to perform a special showcase at South by Southwest 2017. Through multiple national and regional tours, Shelby, Texas has built up a loyal following, and are looking to expand that fan base with another national tour in fall of 2017.

Currently in the studio recording their first album, it’s their live shows that have earned Shelby, Texas accolades and an ever-growing fan base. Often compared to June Carter and Johnny Cash, Shelby, Texas puts on a high energy show that is musically captivating, entertaining and fun. They rely heavily on interacting with the audience, guaranteeing that no two shows are ever alike.

Shelby Lanterman, born & raised in Napa, has been performing live since the age of 16. As a solo artist, she has opened for Lisa Loeb, Bob Mould, Chris Trapper, Hot Club of Cowtown and several others. She has performed at Bottlerock, Hollywood’s Roxy Theater, Rockwood in NYC and many more. Her current album Paper Thin was released in fall of 2016 to rave reviews. KVYN and KMOU regularly play I Blame You and Whiskey Drinkin’ Woman, as well as the previously released Turnin’ To You. Whiskey Drinkin’ Woman won the Original Song Contest at the 2017 Roswell UFO Festival sponsored by KMOU, and the video became the first official collaboration piece for Shelby, Texas.

Born Michaelryan McCauley, Texas was gifted the nickname by his fellow songwriters for his All-American attitude and his soulful style of storytelling. After growing up in the small town of Roseville, California, Texas brought his small town sensibility to San Francisco in 2007. Over the past decade, Texas has been performing across the western U.S while gaining both fans and recognition. He has received numerous awards for both his performance and his songwriting. Most notably, his song “Home” won Best Song of the Year for West Coast Songwriters in 2016 awarding him the attention of listeners and producers alike. This song has gone on to become an audience favorite at the Shelby, Texas shows, and will be included on their upcoming album.

In fact, it was at a West Coast Songwriters Competition where Shelby and Texas first met. Impressed by each other’s songwriting and dedication to music, they began collaborating. It’s a case of serendipity that we all get to enjoy!
