26 year old trumpeter Shawn Williams is on the edge of his breakthrough; from being selected as a finalist in the 2011 National Trumpet Competition, to touring with the World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra as 3rd trumpet, to studying under mentor Gary Pratt, Clay Jenkins, James Thompson, Mike Kuapa, and others at the Eastman School of Music, his comprehensive understanding of the jazz idiom shines in his musicianship. Tonight he plays tribute to two iconic jazz trumpeters, Freddie Hubbard and Thad Jones.
