It's been ten years since Shahram Shabpareh-the King of Persian pop-has performed in the bay area. For some forty years, he's been singing catchy, heartfelt dance-pop songs. His songs border on electronic-pop, but retain some of the traditional sounds of the Middle East as well. Most of his career, he's lived in the US. He fled Iran (along with several other pop stars) in 1979 after the Iranian Revolution, but he's still maintained his status as an iconic Iranian pop star while living all these years in the states. Even in recent years, he still cranks out the hits. (Aaron Carnes)
