SFMOMA Artists Gallery presents presents paintings, prints, pastels, and mixed-media work by Wendy Goldberg, Fernando Reyes, and Kerry Vander Meer.
Wendy Goldberg uses pastels and paint to record scenes at times of day when shadows are deep and the light is intense. She works on site and seeks out opportunities to draw changing weather conditions. In a group of works on view, she depicts man-made structures such as old garages, mills, and interior spaces.
.
Oakland-based painter and printmaker Fernando Reyes presents a selection from his large and diverse portfolio of new artwork. Primarily representational, the works on view include oil paintings, charcoal and conté crayon drawings, and woodblock prints. Reyes is interested in depicting the figure with multiple lines and exploring the natural and urban landscape near his studio..
Kerry Vander Meer presents her recent print and mixed-media work. While much of Vander Meer's work is abstract, she is often inspired by close study of the environment; her work is a both an exploration of the natural habitat and a celebration of biodiversity.
