& Sly And The Family Stone's 'Stand!'

This Friday, SFJAZZ presents their resident all-star octet, the SFJAZZ Collective. For this performance filmed in November 2019, the band celebrates the 50th Anniversary of two of the essential albums in popular music during 1969, Sly and the Family Stone's classic funk hit Stand! and Miles Davis' jazz-fusion landmark In a Silent Way. The supergroup features vocalist Martin Luther McCoy, tenor saxophonist David Sánchez, trumpeter Etienne Charles, guitarist Adam Rogers, vibraphonist Warren Wolf, pianist Edward Simon, bassist Matt Brewer, and drummer Obed Calvaire, with a special guest cameo performance from Family Stone drummer Greg Errico.
