YBCA presents SF Sonido Fest, a four-day music festival highlighting underground singer-songwriters from Latin America. These artists are socially and politically engaged with their roots and communities, honoring and preserving their cultures through their music. Working outside of their home countries as immigrants and undocumented workers, the artists embrace activist roles in creating positive social change and bridging disparate cultures, an exchange facilitated by and celebrated through their music. The themes of the festival explore the pursuit of freedom from both physical and historical boundaries. Performances showcase the breadth of Latin American music, from indie-folk to Venezuelan jazz, Cuban protest songs, and Honduran Garifuna music.
