A Celebration of Global Music Honoring the Peace Corps!
In a time of global conflict, the quest for peace in 2022 is stronger than ever. That is one of the primary motivations behind a first-ever partnership between the San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band and the Northern California Peace Corps Association. This collaboration will take the form of a concert called "Notes from the Peace Corps" and will highlight the Peace Corps mission and experience, and regions of the world where they have made a difference.

To honor the mission of the Peace Corps, the "Official Band of San Francisco" will be led by Artistic Director Pete Nowlen. The program includes music that speaks to the values of the Peace Corps and the work of Returned Peace Corps Volunteers as well as music by composers from countries where the Peace Corps has served.

Through music, Northern California Peace Corps Association and the San Francisco Lesbian/Gay Freedom Band are working hand-in-hand to promote a better understanding of cultures across the globe.
This concert was originally scheduled for March, 2020, but the COVID pandemic forced its postponement until now. In 2022, it's clear that the need for the healing power of global music is greater than ever.
