SF Chamber Orchestra Presents 'Overture to a Season'

SEE EVENT DETAILS
The San Francisco Chamber Orchestra opens its season with a world premiere by BMI Foundation Composer-in-Residence Michael Gilbertson, finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in Music 2018. His new piece 'the beautiful & the good' was inspired by Beethoven's approach to composing. Gilbertson says that 'Beethoven’s music has always been a source of inspiration for me. His music’s incessant rhythmic energy has been a particular interest of mine.' The concert continues with an interactive demonstration with Maestro Ben Simon and the SFCO guiding you through Beethoven Symphony No 6, revealing its hidden depths and beauties followed by a complete performance. The Sixth Symphony brims with its gentle, poetic beauty, affirming the splendor of nature and life.

Performances are free to the public on a first-come, first-served basis, with reserved seating for members beginning one hour prior to concert time and general admission beginning fifteen minutes prior to concert time. More information about the concert and how to become a member may be obtained at https://www.theSFCO.org or by calling 415.463.671
