We encourage you to buy a Festival Pass to support our project. As you see below, all event Festival Passes are offered on a sliding scale from $80-150. Movie passes are $40-60 and you can also buy tickets to individual events linked here at Eventbrite and at the door (but some may sell out, so tickets can help). We also offer a NOTAFLOF policy and 'Special Guest Passes' to all events. Visit sexworkerfest.com for lots of information about the Festival.
The San Francisco Bay Area Sex Worker Film and Arts Festival has provided a forum for sex worker artists, performers, film and video makers and activists to screen works about sex workers and sex work, businesses, industries and trades around the world. The Festival has expanded to become a vibrant venue for performances, workshops, visual arts, political organizing, skills sharing and ever expanding events. The Sex Worker Festival recognizes and honors prostitutes, dancers, porn performers and other sex workers from diverse communities, who have been dynamic and integral members of arts communities since time immemorial.
Festival Founder, Carol Leigh AKA Scarlot Harlot says, "Sex workers have a certain wisdom, unique vantage points from which to view society including hypocrisy, expressed in many contexts--by the lawmakers who use our services, then sponsor policies which further criminalize us, to the wanna-be saviors who claim to 'rescue' us but only increase our vulnerability. This whores-eye-view of society is reflected in this body of work by sex workers."
2017 Festival producers include Erica Elena (Director), Laure McElroy (Curator) and Carol Leigh (Founder). Miki Mosman hs joined the team as Assistant Producer. Event producers also include Jovelyn Richards AKA Sangria Red, Lady Monster, Kalash Ka, Gina Gold and SWAG,
The 2017 Festival features the return of long running events including "The Institute of Sexworkology” and "Whores Bath" (the magical healing spa for sex workers) in Oakland. Other encore events include a free performance workshop for sex workers by Sangria Red (aka Jovelyn Richards) and much more.
The Sex Worker Fest is offering on a sliding scale at the door of the event and we also put aside some tickets for that purpose. We offer a NOTAFLOF (No One Turned Away For Lack Of Funds) policy. If you are a current/former sex worker and are very eager to attend but need assistance such as a 'Special Guest Pass' we really want you to contact us at
