“SOUTH PACIFIC”   Musical beauty and meaning for generations to come
Date & Time: Sat.  July 1,  4 pm Venue: 1750 29th Avenue, San Francisco Tickets: Free. Limited Seating. Register online Donations gratefully accepted.
A free reception will be held following the concert.

Together, Richard Rodgers (born June 28, 1902) and Oscar Hammerstein II (born July 12, 1895) wrote beautiful music with timeless lyrics that touch hearts and minds today as much as in 1949 when “South Pacific” was first performed on Broadway.
On July 1, 2017 — In honor of their birthdays — selections from “South Pacific” will be presented by Sing Out Strong !  a group of talented local singers who love to share their joy of singing. The 4:00 pm Saturday concert will include nine songs from “South Pacific”  as well as engaging commentary about Rodgers and Hammerstein and the timeless significance of this musical work.
The 16-member ensemble was formed and is directed by Ellaine Jerome, a University of California graduate in music history and performance. She is currently the instructor of the popular Music Makers class held weekly at the Golden Gate Park Senior Center.  Accompanist Betty Fujimoto is a classically trained and treasured pianist who plays for churches, community choirs, and events throughout San Francisco. Both Ellaine and Betty have been involved in music since very early childhood.
We hope that families will attend this concert together to enjoy, learn, and appreciate again the wonderful talents of Rodgers and Hammerstein.
