SEASON OF BLACK ART (SOBA) CELEBRATING BLACK CULTURE & CREATIVITY LAUNCHES WITH FREE INAUGURAL EVENT

Join us for the launch of the inaugural Season of Black Art (SOBA) series celebrating Black culture and creativity this Sunday, October 29th at the African American Arts & Cultural Complex (AAACC), 762 Fulton Street in San Francisco, CA 94102, from 1:00-5:00 PM.

Celebrate Black Literature + Narratives + Business! From Writers, Poets, Preachers and New Business Owners, to Political Leaders -- the afternoon event is that of Black Cultural Activation. Meet Phelica Jones, Reverend Townsend, Shante Saulsberry, Rico Storm, Brittani Sensebauugh, Lewis Joan, Alie Jones, and more of the 100 artists who participated in AAACC's Enterprising Creatives Cohort Initiative.

Sunday's launch event kicks-off monthly arts presentations through February 2024 and features culinary delights catered by DIXSON DELIGHTS and entertainment from the Bay Area's very own STUNNAMAN02.

The African American Arts & Culture Complex is a community based 501(c)3 nonprofit arts and cultural organization where Black creatives can present, gather, and learn, while being a space for all to experience Black art and culture. AAACC is co-directed by sisters Melorra Green and Melonie Green, affectionately known as "The Twins" (https://aaacc.org).

SOBA is directed by San Francisco native, Rodney Earl Jackson, who co-founded the award-winning production company, SFBATCO (San Francisco Bay Area Theater Company), known for creating new art and cultural collaborations like "The New Roots Theater Festival," founded by Jackson (https://www.sfbatco.org).

Upcoming monthly presentations include: celebrations of Black Music, November 18, 2023; Black Theater and Film, December 9, 2023; Black Dance, January 13, 2024 and culminating with The State of Black Art Symposium, February 10th, 2024.
