There's a lot of odd terms associated with the various subgenres of prog-metal. One of the weirder terms--"djent"--is an onomatopoeia meant to approximate the rhythmic sound of distorted and palm-muted guitar strumming. Instrumental rockers Sea in the Sky are a part of the djent scene. This Redwood City-based quartet of technically proficient players create dazzling, chunky compositions without ever devolving into dissonance.
