THIS EVENT HAS ENDED
Peter Klimley has been studying sharks for decades. His experiences with a variety of species, including the much-feared great white shark, have shed light on natural behaviors rarely witnessed by others. Known as Dr. Hammerhead for his groundbreaking work on hammerhead sharks in the Gulf of California, Klimley refutes claims that sharks are “mindless killing machines.” They are very complex, even social animals.

Klimley has developed an understanding and appreciation of these amazing animals, and provides compelling reasons for shark conservation and how it can be achieved. Don’t miss this exciting Science Sunday lecture that caps off “Shark Science Week” at the Seymour Center.

Join Klimley after his talk for a book signing— The Secret Life of Sharks: A Leading Marine Biologist Reveals the Mysteries of Shark Behavior and The Biology of Sharks and Rays will be available in our Ocean Discovery Shop.

Science Sunday lectures are first-come, first-served. Admission fees apply; lectures are always free for members and UCSC undergrads with a current student ID. Lectures are recommended for ages 10 and older.
