Refine your fundamentals of drawing and painting, working from the still life, live models, landscape, and imagination. Through creative assignments, this course will teach traditional and nontraditional techniques of drawing and painting, using materials such as graphite, charcoal, pastel, ink, watercolor, gouache, and acrylic paint. In addition to material investigation, you will train your eye to see like an artist. We will explore composition, concept, and mood through in-class assignments, hands-on demonstrations, informal critique sessions, and thematic discussions that will provide both an art historical and contemporary context of the medium. You will gain confidence through practice and experimentation as you work towards developing your own style in the mediums of your choice.
