Bringing a funk style to classic songs, Scary Pockets creates fresh takes on hits from the past. Created by Jack Conte (founder of both Patreon and Pomplamoose), and high school friend Ryan Lerman (musical director and guitarist for Michael Bublé, John Legend and Ben Folds), Scary Pockets also consists of a rotating crew of musicians. Scary Pockets' unique style of funk and R&B music re-genres songs to create an interesting and thought-provoking listening experience. Scary Pockets have covered songs like Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy," Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive," Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire," and the Bee Gees' "Stayin' Alive." Scary Pockets are set to commence their 2023 tour making stops all over North America, Germany, the Netherlands, and Great Britain.
Released in 2017, the self-named Scary Pockets album introduced audiences to the band's fun style. This album was then followed by Funk Walker (2017), Nu Funk (2017), Kitsch Funk (2018), and Funk-ish (2018). The following year, in 2019 saw a change in naming styles with the release of six albums, Ups & Downs, Colors, Off Center, Modern Art, Sca Ryp Ock Ets, and Stick the Landing. Scary Pockets then released Cycles (2020), Find the Light (2020), Agoraphobia (2020), Technicolor Magic (2021), LIFE (2021), Windows (2021), Frisky Business (2021), Late Nights (2021), 2am Funk Dance Party (2022), Jeff (2022), and Magic Hour (2022).
