Mississippi-based Saving Abel craft moody and twangy hard rock. Their major label debut came out in 2008, and yielded their two biggest hits, "Addicted" and "18 Day," both heavy, emotive ballads. By the second record, lead singer Jared Weeks wanted a heavier sound, and since then the band have embraced meatier riffs, without ever letting go of their southern roots. Weeks quit in 2013 to pursue a solo career, and the group, now led by singer Scott Austin, recorded Blood Stained Revolution in 2014. They sound moodier and heavier than ever, almost like a nu-metal band. (AC)
