The Cartoon Art Museum will host artist Sara Lautman on Saturday, July 19, 2014 from 1pm to 3pm as part of its on going Cartoonist-in-Residence program. Visitors will be given the chance to talk to Sara, view and discuss her work. This event is free and open to the public.

Sara Lautman is a cartoonist and illustrator. Her essay comics have been featured in Bitch Magazine, The Hairpin, The Rumpus, The L Magazine, Heeb, The Stranger, and Comics Workbook. Since 2008, she’s been publishing cartoons and image/text art in the booklet series MACROGROAN and on her blog, also named MACROGROAN. Issues of MACROGROAN and her other books are available in independent bookstores across the country.

Her cartoon illustration has been recognized by the Society of Illustrators and will appear in the first Comic and Cartoon Art Annual for 2014. Recently, her column for The Hairpin was featured on Huffington Post Arts. She is currently an MFA candidate in Illustration Practice at MICA in Baltimore, Maryland.

The Cartoon Art Museum regularly hosts professional cartoonists in its galleries as part of its Cartoonist-in-Residence program. Museum patrons see cartoonists at work on their latest projects and learn everything you ever wanted to know about cartoonists – but were afraid to ask. Past featured Cartoonists-in-Residence include Paul Madonna (All Over Coffee), Keith Knight (K Chronicles, (th)ink), Paige Braddock (Jane’s World), Roman Muradov (The New Yorker) and Jimmy Gownley (Amelia Rules) among many others.
