It’s not often that a musical organization can celebrate sixty consecutive years of performing together, but the all-volunteer San Jose Wind Symphony is doing just that as it opens its Diamond Jubilee season in October. The season kicks off on October fifteenth at the McAfee Performing Arts Center on the campus of Saratoga High School. The concert celebrates legendary composer Leonard Bernstein, with vocal performances and instrumental highlights from Bernstein’s classic musicals, including “West Side Story,” “Candide” and “On the Town.” Sopranos Michelle McDaniel and Alexandra Sessler join tenor Andrew Metzger as the Wind Symphony gets an early start celebrating Bernstein’s upcoming Centennial year. Also featured on the program is a medley of tunes from Richard Rodger’s “Carousel.”
