San Jose Taiko mesmerizes audiences with the powerful, spellbinding, and propulsive sounds of the taiko drum. Inspired by traditional Japanese drumming, SJT has broadened this historical art form into a style that joins traditional rhythms with other world and contemporary music, including African, Brazilian, Filipino, Latin, jazz and hip hop, bridging many styles.
The 2014 Yerba Buena Gardens Festival at Yerba Buena Gardens in downtown San Francisco runs May 4 through October 26, 2014 and presents over 90 free events including music, theater, circus, dance, poetry, festivals and children’s programs with artists from Africa, Japan, Mexico, Cuba, Brazil, the Philippines, Sweden, China, Venezuela and the Bay Area. This year’s Festival features events at Jessie Square with poetry, dance workshops and salsa dancing. Yerba Buena Gardens is located between Mission Street and Howard Street and 3rd and 4th Streets in downtown San Francisco
