Rooney Pitchford learned a musical life from a mix of Bay Area radio and Neil Young tapes in his mother’s car, and has added a Texan twang to his sound after several years of calling Austin home. Having begun his career with years of development and education on the Peninsula and gigs in The City, Pitchford crowd-funded and released his debut record, Familiar Places, with early 2016 shows in both Austin and San Francisco. The record mixes familiar Bay Area sounds like the Grateful Dead and Neil Young with sounds found in and around the Texas capitol and the surrounding folk region, from Townes Van Zandt to John Prine.
