Clean & Sober Music Fest presents RockSoberFest
Northern California’s Only Completely Substance-Free Festival!

Experience clean and sober FUN at this second ever substance-free music festival in Northern California. RockSoberFest will be held at the Mendocino County Fairgrounds in Boonville on May 31-June 2.
Eleven fantastic bands and three comedians will get the crowds dancing and laughing under the summer sky. This community gathering offers picnicking and camping as well.

Concert producer and promoter Jeffrey Trotter has been sober for 23 years. He was artistic director of Shakespeare at Stinson for 20 years and has long felt the need for a substance free environment for music festivals. “It was clear that the time had come for a festival created for people who want to go out and have fun without mind or mood altering substances. We are putting on a wildly fun event where everyone can feel comfortable knowing they are with others who are like minded and supportive of uplifting entertainment.”

The stellar line-up features musicians and comedians:

Paul Hayward- An acclaimed singer-songwriter, Paul originates from Forest City, PA (population 1500). He currently lives in San Francisco, where he is an ordained non-denominational minister, songwriter and bon vivant. He has over thirty years experience performing regularly in such cities as San Diego, Chicago, Phoenix, New York, Seattle, Boston, Minneapolis, and Philadelphia. He has also lived/performed in London, Munich, Dublin and Vienna.

Mumblefinger- Singer-songwriter, storyteller, humorist, Mumblefinger (aka Brian Birkes), is the vocal and guitar guy. He began playing guitar at the age of 12. As an adult, he kicked around New York, San Diego, San Francisco and Nashville, perfecting his unique tone and talent. Mumblefinger has released many CDs independently and his songs have been showcased on the nationally syndicated House of Blues Radio, NPR and other radio stations in the U.S., Germany, and Brazil. Stefanie Keys- Indie Rock artist Stephanie Keys, based in Northern California, toured with Big Brother & The Holding Co. for 5 years. Tyler Allen- Acoustic Rock artist from Santa Rosa, Tyler blends an unusual variety of genres from Soul to Rock in his songwriting, and picks a wide range of artists to cover. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, he had a fantastic exposure to all kinds live music. He had a traditional music education in Classical and Jazz music but was always drawn to the Folk, Rock and Soul from the 60’s and 70’s. As he entered his formidable years he was drawn into Hendrix, Neil Young and Ben Harper. The Northwest Rock scene that was exploding before his eyes was and still is a natural influence. He’s played everything from Punk Rock to Soul in Seattle during his 20’s, and then in 2005 moved to the North Bay. These days Tyler is pursuing his own voice. He is determined to make something authentic, real and from the heart.

Wendy DeWitt w/ Kirk Harwood- This powerhouse duo are two-time regional winners and International Blues Challenge Finalists. After a European tour in January of this year, the band’s latest album, Getaway made the top of the charts in Italy. Wendy, a Santa Rosa High graduate, is a local girl made good story. She caught the attention of Western Swing Hall of Famer Tommy Thomsen (Sonoma) at age 10, and hasn’t stopped since. Former pianist for Hank Ballard and Steve Freund, Wendy has also played with Hank Ballard and the Midnighters, Charlie Musselwhite, Otis Rush and Jimmy Thackery. She tours national and international festivals and produces the annual Queens of Boogie Woogie and San Francisco International Boogie Woogie Festival, which draws artists from around the world.

Levi Lloyd & Friends- Bay Area Blues guitarist, Levi Lloyd, is a local legend known as the ‘musician magnet’; known for always having a bunch of well - known musician friends sharing the stage. Levi is a Blues veteran. He’s played with B.B. King, John Lee Hooker and toured worldwide as a guitarist for Joe Louis Walker. With a following hard to match, his shows are powerful.

Jake Bernie- The mind that created Total Bern Productions, his vision brought together North Coast Comedy, which is the hottest comedy spot in Fort Bragg, CA. In addition to Fort Bragg, he partnered with Epicenter in Santa Rosa to create Epic Friday Night Comedy. He produces and hosts his own shows and has performed at Punch Line in Sacramento and Cobb’s Comedy Club in San Francisco. Jake is the youngest of seven children, which of course makes him the one who experienced the most pain. He has been clean since May 16, 1995, which makes him 24 years clean and sober for this event! He loves to bring laughter to the masses and even employs his 14 year-old son Alex as his DJ for all his clubs.

Kristen Ono- A little dark, a little weird, a lot of burritos. Kristee Ono is a San Francisco based stand up comedian exploring depression and food obsession with an unwarranted optimism, entertaining enough that no one has asked her to stop as of yet. She is a member of the Komedio Comedy, a nerd comedy network and co-produces the monthly Mermaid Show in San Francisco.

Mean Dave- From the San Francisco Bay Area, Mean Dave is a regular performer at Cobb’s Comedy Club in SF, and Punch Line in both SF and Sacramento, among other popular showcases and clubs throughout Northern California. Dave has opened for headliners such as Judy Tenuta, Big Jay Oakerson, Neil Hamburger, Eddie Pepitone, Allan Havey, Tom Rhodes, and most importantly, Barry Sobel. Michael Sheller- A local from Ukiah, Michael has played music since the age of
six. He began with classical piano, but after hearing Johnny B. Goode by Chuck Berry, he started to learn the guitar. At the age of 12, someone taught him a two-string power chord. Today his music can be described as rockin’ acoustic Folk. His honest lyrics and simple musical style draw on influence from Wham! to Weezer and from John Coltrane to Jawbreaker.

The Happys- Formed in the San Francisco Bay Area, The Happys are a band composed of four twenty-something-year olds (Nick Petty, Alex Sanchez, Brett Brazil and Ryan Donahue) playing dysfunctional Surf Pop-Punk/Grunge, influenced heavily by Hip Hop and Grunge. Songwriter Nick Petty grew up writing music his whole life. Starting his career after overcoming addiction, depression and incarceration, powerful even strange songs started to form. The Happys have shared the stage with The Mad Caddies, Agent Orange, Del the Funky Homosapien, among others. Rick Bonde of Tahoe Artists Agency who has broken acts such as Blink 182, Sublime, Reel Big Fish, Monophonics and Brothers Comatose manages the band.
