Join Ridge Trail volunteers for the Third Annual Super Stroll on Super Bowl Sunday! This year there are 3 options, all of which are lovely hikes accessible by public transit and all of which will at one time traverse Twin Peaks’ Figure Three, the no-vehicle trail which opened up in 2016.
The Hail Mary, 9:15-4:00 (strenuous hike, 15 miles, point-to-point): Meet at the northeast corner of John Daly Blvd. and Lake Merced Blvd., accessible by a 15-minute walk from Daly City BART station. This 15-mile hike will traverse the entire Ridge Trail route across San Francisco from Lake Merced to the Golden Gate Bridge. Because of its length, this hike is strenuous.
The Quarterback Sneak, 9:30-2:00 (moderate hike, loop): Meet at the northeast corner of Geary & Arguello, accessible by the 38 Geary. This 9-mile hike will follow the Ridge Trail through the Golden Gate Park Panhandle, up over Mt. Olympus, and then on to Twin Peaks. Return back to the starting point via the newly opened segment of the Ridge Trail on Mt. Sutro and the Oak Woodlands of Golden Gate Park.
The Boot Leg, 10:00-1:30 (moderate hike, loop): Meet the corner of Stanyan and Carl, accessible by the N-Judah. This 6.5 mile hike will take you to the Figure Three of Twin Peaks via the newly opened segment of the Ridge Trail on Mt. Sutro. On the way back to the starting point, there will be a side trip to experience the visual delights from Tank Hill.
