Rick Poynor is a writer, critic, lecturer, and curator specializing in design, photography, and visual culture. He founded Eye magazine, co-founded Design Observer, writes the long-running Critique column for Eye, and contributes to many publications. He is Professor of Design and Visual Culture at the University of Reading in the UK. His books include Obey the Giant: Life in the Image World (2001), No More Rules: Graphic Design and Postmodernism (2003), Jan van Toorn: Visual Practice (2008), Sergei Sviatchenko: Collages (2014), and National Theatre Posters: A Design History (2017).

Rick will speak about his career as a design critic, his thoughts on the state of contemporary design criticism, and his most recent projects.
