Resistance is Fertile: Standup Comedy Show SF

SEE EVENT DETAILS

Ever wanted to see comedy that makes you say “I saw them before they blew up” instead of "Wow, this creepy dude makes me wish I stayed home."?
Then come to R.I.F. Comedy, aka Resistance is Fertile, the freshest standup comedy show featuring queers, queens, and 1 token peen. Every month at The Rite Spot, we feature a majority female and GNC lineup of rising stars in comedy. Comics discuss the joys of being a woman or GNC in a batshit world, the eternal struggle to harness one’s inner diva, and the art of resisting everything but our favorite vices.
Bonus track: We lovingly razz 1 male comic and invert the typical comedy show where only one woman is booked on a predominantly male lineup.
Comedians on this selective showcase have been featured on Conan, Last Comic Standing, Comedy Central, NBC, Viceland, MTV and more.

If tickets are out or closed online, feel free to come on by! We can always fit people at the bar!

Our April 2019 lineup features...
Sam Gilweit (Punch Line San Francisco)
Marcie Rogo (SXSW)
Jeannette Marin (Rooster T. Feathers)
With Nori Reed and Marcus Williams
Hosted by Brooke Heinichen and Geneva Rust-Orta

Brought to you by Nicole Calasich, Brooke Heinichen and Geneva Rust-Orta

We collect tips at the end instead of charging for tickets, so bring cash!

ABOUT YOUR HOSTS:

NICOLE CALASICH is a Bolivian-American comedian based in SF/LA and is actively hungry right now. Her humor is big words smartcool and her incisive audience rapport is the dumbest. She’s performed at clubs and intimate rooms across the country, opening for Michael Che, Ali Wong, Dan Cummins, Iliza Shlesinger, and more. Her jokes have been on Comedy Central, her face on ABCdigital. Her first-generation brownkid comedy "Some of Your Best Friends" earned her a grant from the SF Arts Commission and will be live in 2019. but tbh comedy is a flimsy facade for her to meet Cardi B and get the OKURRR.

BROOKE HEINICHEN is a San Francisco-based up-and-coming stand-up comic who talks too fast and smiles too much. Her feel-good comedy act covers her Ohio upbringing, with a sprinkling of political commentary on both sides of the aisle, tied together with animated, vibrant storytelling that makes light of everything from failed dating experiments to family funerals. She performs nightly at clubs, bars, theaters, and wineries all over the Bay, and produces Bay Area showcases Brave New Jokes, Jokelandish, Thinking Women’s Comedy and ACLU fundraiser shows with Hot Take Comedy. She has performed at the 2016 and 2017 Lady Laughs Festivals (opening for headliner Mary Kennedy) and will perform in 2018 SF Sketchfest, selected as one of Audible’s Fresh Faces of Stand-Up.

GENEVA RUST-ORTA is an Oakland native comic. She took her East Bay humor across the Atlantic to university in the United Kingdom. In the UK, she performed at the Edinburgh, Camden, and Great Yorkshire fringe festivals. She was named Second Funniest Jew of 2015, at the 2015 Jewish Comedian of the Year Competition in London. Since moving back home, she has performed all over the Bay Area. She placed 3rd in the 2018 Rooster T. Feathers comedy competition. She produces Beef Curtains Stand Up Comedy at Milk Bar and Clusterfunk, curated independent comedy shows across the Bay Area.
