There are a lot of sub-genres in extreme, heavy music: grindcore, metalcore, deathcore and of course the lesser known Christmas-core. Locals Repaid in Blood dabble in all of these sub-genres, and may in fact have the quintessential Christmas-core tune: "I saw Zombies Eating Santa Claus." They mix a lot of old-style thrash and death metal shenanigans (shredding guitars, Cookie Monster vocals, double bass rolls) with some incredible technical prowess. And when they’re not busy growling about the untimely death of Old Saint Nick, they keep it lighthearted with songs about breakfast cereals, King of the Hill and Game of Thrones. (Aaron Carnes)
