Step back in time with the Renegade Orchestra! Dec 16 at Ashkenaz in Berkeley
Bay area favorites, the Renegade Orchestra are steppin' and kickin' their way away from their standard rock and roll repertoire for a one night show at Ashkenaz in Berkeley. This exciting event will feature a 20 person orchestra hosting a swing dance.
Featuring a string section of well-known Bay Area orchestral players, mixed with a swingin' rhythm section, the evening will be danceable, fun, and open to all ages.
"'We'll be playing everyone's favorite songs to dance to," says conductor Jason Eckl, "big band hits from the '40s plus some holiday songs are going to make this evening really special."
The Renegade Orchestra calls itself,"the orchestra that breaks all the rules," and they've been making waves all over the Bay Area and beyond with shows in unexpected places. "'We've played everywhere from a warehouse to a boathouse on Lake Tahoe, to a SRO hotel in the Tenderloin," says cellist Rebecca Roudman. The group has also brought out big crowds in traditional venues.
Tickets for this event can be found at renegadeorchestra.com and cost $20. The dance begins at 8 pm, and prior to the live music, there will be a free beginners dance lesson.
