Refuge Vow Ceremony with Lama Döndrup

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Take Formal Refuge in the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha, Renew your Vows or Witness the Ceremony

The Refuge Ceremony goes back to the time of the Buddha. It is a ceremony where we formally make a vow to turn our body, speech and mind towards awakening, towards our true nature or Buddha Nature. The Refuge Ceremony gives us a space to formally set our intention and commitment to turn toward awakening and rely on the path of teachings and practices embodied in the lineages of the Buddha. The vow enters your mindstream to serve as a strong reminder of what you most value, sending you back to what truly helps when the going gets rough and you are tempted away from living your deepest values.

Audience: This ceremony is for those taking refuge for the first time as well as those renewing their vows.

Cost: Suggested donation is a sliding scale $25 - $108, which includes dana for the center and for Lama Döndrup.

Registration deadline: Please register by January 5th at 5 pm Pacific. We are not able to take registrations after this time.

Teacher: Lama Döndrup is the Resident Lama of Sukhasiddhi Foundation and oversees the curriculum and offerings at Sukhasiddhi, in collaboration with the lamas and dharma leaders on the teachers council. Lama Döndrup has practiced and studied in the Buddhist tradition for over twenty years. After five years of Theravadin Buddhist training, she immersed herself in the teachings and practices of the Shangpa and Kagyu Vajrayana lineages. In 2005, she completed the three-year retreat and was authorized as a lama. Upon her return to Marin County, she began teaching classes and leading meditations at Sukhasiddhi Foundation, and in 2020 was authorized by Lama Palden as Resident Lama. Lama Döndrup enjoys guiding students through creation and completion stage meditations; helping them to feel confident in their own understanding of ceremonies and teachings; and supporting the natural unfolding of their innate wisdom. In addition to her Buddhist practice, Lama Döndrup has trained in the Diamond Approach for seven years and has a Masters of Fine Arts degree in piano performance.
