Redwood Symphony performs Mahler's Symphony No. 6

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Can music be both tragic and joyous?
Grim and optimistic at the same time?
Come find out when critically-acclaimed Redwood Symphony performs Mahler's 6th Symphony on Saturday, February 10 at 8 PM at Canada College Theater in Redwood City. The evening begins at 7 PM with a talk by music director Dr. Eric K.
Nicknamed the "tragic" symphony, it is both Mahler's grimmest work, yet filled with joy and optimism. There is no other Mahler symphony like this; it foretells much of the composer's life, including the loss of a child. Contrasting moments of light briefly shine through as the piece builds toward a massive epic finale, complete with giant hammer blows of fate.
