Red Poppy Mini-Residency: Trio Caminos, Trio Garufa, & The Musical Art Quintet

Join us for this 3 day celebration of music at the Red Poppy Art House! Sascha Jacobsen will be performing with three different groups that each represent a facet of his musical life: Trio Caminos, Trio Garufa, and The Musical Art Quintet. For the final night, the Musical Art Quintet will be celebrating the kick off of their 10 year anniversary with special guests: Melinda Becker, Allison Lovejoy, and surprise guests. 


Thursday, December 7th - Trio Caminos: Music of Venezuela, Spain, Cuba & America
Spanish, Cuban, and American styles, takes the Poppy stage for an evening of original compositions that blend flamenco with joropo and Afro-Caribbean beats, as well as music by renowned composers such as Astor Piazzolla, Hermeto Pascoal, and Michel Camilo.

Friday, December 8th - Trio Garufa: Tango Argentino
World travelers Trio Garufa–comprised of Argentinian guitarist Guillermo García, Swiss bandoneon player Adrian Jost, and American bassist Sascha Jacobsen–return to the Poppy for an evening of tango: classic Argentine tangos, as well as Argentine folklore music, modern tangos from Piazzolla, electro-tangos, and original compositions.FEATURING:Guillermo García – guitarAdrian Jost – bandoneonSascha Jacobsen – string bass


Saturday, December 9th - The Musical Art Quintet: Chamber con Alma
The Musical Art Quintet, formed in 2008 during weekly jam sessions in the Mission, features the music of bandleader/composer/bassist Sascha Jacobsen. The MAQ’s modern compositions blend jazz harmony, world rhythms, and a chamber-music sensibility upon which the players of the quintet improvise.FEATURING:Sascha Jacobsen – bassLewis Patzner – celloCharith Premawardhana – violaAnthony Blea – violinMichelle Walther – violin


FAQs
When should I arrive?
Doors open 30 minutes before the scheduled performance time. For example, if the show is scheduled to start at 7:30 pm, the doors will open at 7:00 pm.

When does the box office open to buy tickets at the door?
Guests may buy tickets at the door when doors open 30 minutes before the scheduled performance time.

Does the Poppy accept debit or credit cards?
At this time, we can only accept cash and check. Credit card processing will be coming soon.

Is the space ADA accessible?
Yes, there is a ramp at our 23rd St entrance.

What kind of seating do you have available?
For most of our events we have folding chairs and a few couches available.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Street parking is available but can be limited around the Red Poppy. We encourage you to take public transportation whenever possible. Several MUNI lines run close to the Red Poppy and  the 24th St./Mission BART station is just under half a mile away.

What can I bring into the event?
Guests are welcome to bring food. Beverages are available by suggested donation. We recommend bringing collapsible strollers, if possible.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
No, this event is all ages. However, wine and beer will be served at the concessions counter.

What's the refund policy?
Attendees can receive refunds up to 1 day before your event start date.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
You may bring your printed ticket or show your ticket on your phone. There will be no tickets available for pick up at  Will Call.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?
Yes, you’re welcome to purchase tickets for someone else.

How can I donate to the Poppy?
