Foothill College Photography Instructor Ron Herman, who curated the "Raúl Cañibano: Storyteller" exhibition, will discuss the photographs that are on display through March 11 in the KCI Gallery (Bldg. 4000) at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills. Admission is free; parking is $3.
"Raúl Cañibano: Storyteller" is the first solo exhibition in the Western United States by the internationally acclaimed Cuban photographer. Based in Havana, Cañibano uses the camera to narrate the story of his country, its people and their struggles in the post-revolution era. Through his series, Cañibano’s images tell the tales of everyday Cubans in the city ("Chronicles of the City") and in the countryside ("Guajira’s Land"), and confront the loneliness and abandonment of aging in Cuba ("Sunset").
Gallery hours are M–F, 8:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.; Sat, 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Closed Sundays. Parking Lot 4 provides the best access to the gallery. Purchase permit for $3 at dispensers in any student lot. Dispensers accept one-dollar bills and quarters. For more exhibit information, access http://raulcanibano.wordpress.com/.
