The founder and originator of Jawaiian music strikes again with another new style "Urban Reggae" a original style he can call his own.

Born and raised in Jamaica, Rankin Scroo has always had music as the center of his life. From his earliest days singing in church to his teenage years as a reggae rapper, Rankin achieved worldwide recognition as a talented singer, producer, songwriter and innovative performer.

New York City became Rankin’s first home abroad where he performed with numerous sound systems and live bands. His vitality and intensity of expression carried his artistry from the Atlantic to the Pacific. Pioneering reggae music in the Hawaiian Islands, he formed Crucial Youth Productions band and recording studio. Rankin’ met Ginger and the two began to write music and perform together. Their unique blend of musical backgrounds and vocals created the highly acclaimed reggae duo “Rankin’ Scroo and Ginger” and birthed a new sound now recognized worldwide as Jawaiian music. For nearly three decades, their releases and live performances have astounded crowds all over the world. Nuh Du Dat an anti-drug song and video on the Ras Record label marks this era of international airplay. Things Man Do on the flip side of this hit single was one of the only reggae songs by any reggae artist to ever receive daily rotation on R&B radio station KBLX. Rankin’ Scroo and Ginger have won numerous awards and honors for their works and are highly regarded as veteran performers in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Rankin Scroo moved to the SF Bay Area and brought Crucial Youth Productions with him. Highly sought after as a musical composer, Rankin’s creative arrangements have enhanced the words and melodies of many major label artists including: Black Uhuru, Frankie Paul, Sister Carol, Foundation, Lutan Fyah, Too Short, Keak da Sneak, Rappin 4Tay, Yukmouth, Messy Marv, Tyquan & E-40. Rankin’s musical versatility expressed through his rhythms and vocal styles forms his created genre Urban Reggae. The Urban Reggae sound was launched in California in the late 1990’s with the release of Godfada. This album served not only as an introduction to Urban Reggae but also to Rankin’ Scroo as a solo artist. Rankin’s cutting edge style, masterfully mixing Reggae Dancehall, Hip-Hop, and R&B has mass cross over appeal that has been emulated worldwide by Spanish speaking Reggaeton artists. Rankin Scroo’s status as a premier artist and producer among Bay Area Hip-Hop and R&B artists has been confirmed and endorsed with countless collaborations, soundtracks, and roles in films including his production of the title track for Jamaican film, Cop and a Badman.

Rankin Scroo released Solid following Godfada for his roots reggae fans who did not feel his passion of crossing into other genres and uncharted territory. Reggae to the bone, Solid was well received by Rankin’s hardcore reggae fans and won him immediate airplay on reggae clear channel radio stations. His delivery of knowledge and spiritually uplifting messages has made him a household name in the reggae community.

“Love Zone”, Rankin Scroo’s latest offering, is a shining example of Rankin’s musical genius, and is poised to capture all markets. Fulfilling his fans anticipated expectations of his Urban Reggae creation, he delivers an array of expressions widely received and loved by all genres. From the first note to the last echo, this album flows lyrically, musically and spiritually through a tapestry of styles and emotions that makes “Love Zone” a must have, must hear CD.
