The Radical History of Early Analog Synthesis
a lecture and workshop by Adam Hirsch, house engineer at Tiny Telephone Recording
Come learn about the early history of analog synthesizers, and the role of Bay Area artists in realizing dreams of a new tool for making music out of nothing in the 1960s. While the talk will cover the basics of how synthesizers work, the main focus will be on the ways in which early modular instruments were used for radical experimentation. Classic vintage synthesizers such as the Minimoog and the Arp Odyssey will be available for attendees to hear and play.
Tim Marcus of Milkman Amps will provide amps and a guitar for testing them.
Arrive early--Ritual staff will be spinning records that afternoon to kick off the event!
