During our time together we will talk quilt history, inspiration, color theory and craft theory, basic piecing skills, hand quilting techniques, and begin designing and making a quilt. Quilts take many hours, but you will leave this class in a good place to continue on your quilting journey.
If you have not machine sewn much, please practice sewing a straight line with a quarter inch seam before class. A great book to check out if you have time: The Improv Handbook for Modern Quilters by Sheri Lynn Wood
Cost: Sliding Scale $30-$80. Please bring a working sewing machine with needles and thread. Some fabric will be available, but please bring any 100% cotton fabric for your project as well as fabric donations for the Social Justice Sewing Academy.
About the facilitator: Sailor Holladay is a writer, textile artist, and teacher living in Oregon.
Refreshments will be provided.
