These spheres of safety are reflected in prints and photographs in the modern illustrated books exhibited in Quiet Spaces: Picturing Sanctuary in the Illustrated Book. Featuring more than 40 volumes from the permanent collection of the University of San Francisco’s Donohue Rare Book Room, Quiet Spaces encourages the exploration of diverse personal and collective experiences and perceptions of the theme of sanctuary.
