Project Space: Hannah Jayanti

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Hannah Jayanti (AIR '22) is a documentary filmmaker, organizer, and educator whose work explores ethics and politics through form and process, and is centered on questions related to landscape, listening, memory, time, capitalism, and interdependence. Her 2020 speculative documentary, "Truth or Consequences," takes place in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, home to the world's first commercial spaceport. Filming over the course of three years and closely following five residents of the town, Jayanti approached the work through intuition and a practice of active, intentional listening.

While in residence, Jayanti will be focusing on "Topography," a multimedia documentary project exploring how humans relate to, and separate ourselves from, "nature." Set in and around US national parks, "Topography" spans across time, species, and histories to reveal how different perspectives shape the land and its futures. The project includes documentary films, immersive experiences, interactive websites, performances, and installations.

Masks required indoors. Project Space is located on the third floor of Building 944 and is currently accessible only by stairs.

Free
