The Village Theatre Art Gallery is excited to partner with the California Society of Printmakers for a new exhibition, titled Print It! featuring a large collection of prints that depict a variety of styles and subject matter.
The California Society of Printmakers is a non-profit organization comprised of more than 300 members. It’s the oldest printmaking organization in the country. But the history of printmaking itself dates all the way back to CE105 in China after paper was invented. There are a variety of different types of printmaking, and examples of most kinds of printmaking will be on view in this exhibition and include, woodcut, linocut, collagraph, engraving, etching, Aquatint, monotype, lithograph and screen prints.
Each printmaking technique involves a different process and different tools. The art of printmaking has evolved over the years but continues to be an enduring artform in the modern age. Artists’ work in this exhibition will be for sale, framed and unframed prints at affordable prices. A selection of artist members from the society will be featured in this exhibition: Shunsuke Ando, Peter Baczek, Sandra Beard, Noah Breuer, Amy Burek, Helene Cote, Cathie Crawford, Linda L.
