Primary Body Mapping and Functional Movement Course
Taught by Flora D.H. Ojanen
Monday, November 27, 2017
7:00 –9:00 pm
Tuition: $60.00 (Member $50.00)
(covers both sessions)
Second session: Monday 12/4, 7-9pm
Do you find yourself at times straining and tense—on your yoga mat, sitting on the computer or cutting vegetables? Do you wish to understand how to use your body with more ease and enjoyment? This workshop might be right for you!
This two-session series offers mindful tools based on the Alexander Technique, emphasizing functional, whole-body coordination rather than flexibility, and quality of movement rather than how far or how deep you can move.
Flora's clear and simple approach uses body mapping to help establish references in the body for safely moving through poses—or sitting at the computer—without blocking the flow of energy, circulation, or breath.
During this workshop series, we will carefully deconstruct and rebuild some select yoga poses, highlighting the new awareness of “how you do one thing is how you do everything”! We will also look at everyday movements and how they can be done with more ease and lightness.
Gain ideas you can use right away in your daily life.
The series is suited for all yoga practitioners and beginning students, no matter age or ability. Come and treat your body with care, curiosity and reverence.
Limit 6 students. Please register in advance.
