At it since 1997, German power metallers Primal Fear are coming across the ocean in a frenzy of hair spray and dueling harmonies. After not being selected to replace Rob Halford in Judas Priest, singer Ralf Scheepers (ex-Gamma Ray) and friend Mat Sinner (ex-Sinner) started now-legendary band Primal Fear. Fast drums, catchy riffs and Judas Priest style vocals are what have driven this band to the top of its genre. While Scheepers writes most of his songs about science fiction, some have said that they are only metaphors that refer to important issues that plague modern society such as religion and politics. It is clear however that bands like Dragon Force and White Wizzard are heavily influenced by Primal Fear, with their lightning fast dueling solos reminiscent of a better time when guitar leads had soul and weren't just how fast you could shred.
